Like many modern manufacturing firms, Larsen Manufacturing recognizes the vital role of mentorship in shaping future industry professionals. They demonstrate this commitment by actively engaging with high school internship programs, providing students with hands-on experience and valuable guidance. By opening their doors to young learners, Larsen Manufacturing not only offers students a glimpse into the complexities of modern manufacturing but also invests in the future of the industry.
This year, Larsen hired Camryn, a Mundelein High School senior, to intern at their Mundelein location. Under the mentorship of Jim LaCroix, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Camryn works on creating a series of video segments promoting Larsen Manufacturing to teenagers. “Her first few weeks were spent walking around our facilities and seeing the different parts that make the company function as a whole,” shared Jim. “We have a global market, so there’s a lot for her to understand.”
Jim LaCroix’s search for someone to capture the appeal of manufacturing careers to high schoolers, led him to Camryn, the perfect choice to bring this project to life. “I know that Camryn’s work will make this industry exciting to her peers,” stated Jim, a longtime supporter of Mundelein High School’s experiential education programming. “Her take on our company will definitely shift people’s perspectives of manufacturing.”
These programs emphasize practical skills, workplace etiquette, and career exploration; and ensure that interns gain a well-rounded understanding of the manufacturing sector. Larsen’s focus on mentorship hopes to cultivate a skilled workforce and inspire young individuals to pursue careers in manufacturing.
